Back to Basics, I guess. | brutmystik's Blog

This morning was pure Joy. When I got there, Remy was playing the key board and Maz was dancing around with a little ragged cat toy with big green eyes. “I dun wanna botato, Kawen…” “Maz, just come and look at it; you might want it…” “No Kawen, I dun wanna go see it…” “C’mon, Maz” her mom joined in, “You might like it” “Nooooo I dun like it..” I gave up and went into the kitchen, pretty soon she arrived, shifting her weight from left to right, looking at the bag. I took out the rectangular ob She did. And suddenly she remembered that she liked them after all. The drive back up was wonderful because it had rained earlier and the smell was still hanging in the air in long invisible silver ropes; the dampness seemed to be stamped into the air and several times I wanted to pull over but was anxious to get home. We went to lunch and as usual, the highlight is always the fortune cookies; I never eat them but I am obsessed with the mysterious little tags with the blue printing. I opened mine first; it read “Today is a disastrous day! If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” My Chinese word was “Very fashionable” and my numbers were 10, 5, 30, 27, 44, and 50. Kelly opened hers second, it said “The quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is important.” Her Chinese word was “Telephone” and her numbers were 6, 25, 12, 10, 36 and 48. “I bet Mom’s will say something happy” Kelly joked. We looked at our mother. She put down her fork full of food and opened hers, knowing that if she didn’t do it quickly, one of her children would. This is what it said; I read it aloud, my mother didn’t have her glasses “Joy comes from Adventure today. Time to shake the world up” her Chinese word is “Going or not?” and her numbers are 3, 12, 22, 28, 32 and 17. In other words, “Today you may die. Make the best of it; life is about quality not quantity. Be adventurous and joyful; change the world” I decided to do what the fortune cookies said. We went to Home Mart and I bought two small plastic storage containers and two bags of plastic toys; soldiers and ocean creatures. I decided that playing would give me power and help my creativity; I even bought construction paper, glue and poster board. “Are you really going to play with those…?” “Yes, not everyday, though…” mOOd: Kel: "Do you remember the ones we used to play with that had removable spears and rifles?"
